Questions people ask
Is it really pay once?
Yes. The Founder licences are a one-off payment with no subscription. The only monthly option will be BusyMoss cloud, a separate plan for people who want us to host it, and it isn't open yet.
Where are my business records kept?
On your own device, in a file you choose, or on your own server, depending on how you run it. Your BusyMoss account only holds your trial, your licence and which devices you use.
What happens when the free trial ends?
If you haven't bought a licence, BusyMoss becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted: you can still view, export and back up everything, and buying a licence unlocks it as it was.
Can my team use it at the same time?
On one computer, staff take turns with their own logins. For several people at once, run it on your own server today, or BusyMoss cloud, which is in the works. Founder covers up to 5 users on up to 5 devices, and Founder Team up to 12 users on up to 12 devices. Computers, phones and tablets all count as devices.
Does it file my VAT return or payroll with HMRC?
No. BusyMoss works out your VAT return figures and your payroll, ready for you or your accountant to submit. Download the figures and send them through HMRC’s online service, or pass them to your accountant. Payroll still needs the payday report sent to HMRC with recognised software, such as HMRC’s free Basic PAYE Tools.
Do I need to be VAT registered?
No. Leave VAT off while you’re under the threshold. When you register, switch it on: VAT is added from that day onwards. Receipts you issued before then stay as they were, without VAT.
